Sanctions

The following are examples of sanctions for common violations. These sanctions are subject to change anytime.

 

Illegally Downloading

·     1st violation: Choice of PowerPoint presentation, poster campaign, or personal reflection paper. Student must remove all illegal material from their computer and present it to the ITS Department upon request.

·     2nd violation: $100 fine or 15 hours of community service with the ITS department and probation and a paper discussing the five areas of shared responsibility and university risk management. Student must remove all illegal material from their computer and present it to the ITS Department upon request.

·     3rd violation: $200 fine or 30 hours of community service, counseling session, and possible loss of computer access or suspension. Student must remove all illegal material from their computer and present it to the ITS Department upon request. 

Tobacco Policy Violation

·     1st violation: Verbal or written warning

·     2nd violation: $25 fine

·     3rd  violation: $50 fine

·     4th  violation: $100 fine and counseling assessment

Alcohol Policy Violation

·     1st violation: a $50 fine, completion an educational sanction (e.g. Choices interactive journal or cultural analysis).

·     2nd violation: a $100 fine, completion of a brief alcohol assessment and any recommended consequences from the assessment, one-year disciplinary probation.

·     3rd violation: probable suspension for at least a semester; in extenuating circumstances, student may stay enrolled but must complete an approved treatment program.

 Drug Policy Violation

·         1st violation: a $100 fine, completion of a brief user assessment and any recommended consequences from the assessment results, one-year disciplinary probation.

 

·         2nd violation: a $100 fine, completion of an in-depth assessment (minimum of 3 sessions) and any recommended consequences from the assessment results -year disciplinary probation.

 

·         3rd violation: probable suspension for at least a semester; in extenuating circumstances, student may stay enrolled but must complete an approved treatment program.
